Recently, your patient learned that her spouse had passed away.  As a nursing assistant, what is the best way for you to deal with the patient?

Patients may need to talk about their feelings of memories of the loss of their loved one when they has lost a loved one.  Sometimes, all the patient's needs is really just sitting with them and providing them comfort.  If you were to ignore the subject or change the conversation, utilize humor or even bring other people into the room when they may not feel like talking to anyone, could prevent your patient from actually dealing with their grief.
