The nursing assistant should make the customer comfortable and encourage them to breathe slowly and deeply during a panic attack. It can also be helpful if you ask them to count backwards slowly from 100. During an attack, the customer is unable to talk about anxious situations and isn’t able to address uncomfortable feelings and frustrations. While having a panic attack, the customer is also unable to focus on anything other than the symptoms, so the customer won’t be able to discuss the cause of the attack.
